Hawiyat Najm Park in Quriyat, Oman, is set to undergo major redevelopment to become a sustainable tourist spot.

Sinkhole

The park, more commonly known as Bimmah Sinkhole, will be split into three new zones, with the project highlighting the sinkhole as the centre of zone one.

Zone one will feature a zipline as well as walking and cycling tracks and a panoramic bridge. It will also have a children’s play area, food trucks and retail shops in the area.

The other zones will have space for up to 191 tents and caravans to accommodate upward of 400 visitors including both families and adventure seekers.

Ahmed bin Mohammed al Hamidi, chairman of Muscat Municipality, said: “The development of the park comes within the framework of Muscat governorate’s efforts to deliver pioneering projects that enhance the area by providing a natural haven for both residents and tourists, particularly camping and outdoor enthusiasts.

“The project will provide well-organised camping areas across various zones to meet a pressing need for citizens and tourists visiting the site.”

The project is expected to create over 300 jobs and attract over 5,000 visitors daily during peak seasons.
