The playground will feature a “cloud deck” incorporating bridges, tunnels and ropes to create an elevated experience, enhanced by misters simulating clouds with cockatoos flying overhead.

There will also be a giant numbat for kids to climb on, swinging ropes, feather hammocks, slides, audio spotlights and more.

Australia’s environment minister Reece Whitby said: “The playground has been designed to showcase Perth Zoo’s unique conservation work and will be accessible to children of all ages and abilities.

“The new play space will be fun, vibrant and educational. It will allow Western Australian children and their friends to connect with nature and explore.

“I look forward to seeing the entire community enjoy the new playground and café this Spring, which also coincides with Perth Zoo’s momentous 125th birthday.”
