Construction work on the £10.3m Nickelodeon Land project at Blackpool Pleasure Beach is under way.
The new six-acre area will include 14 rides and attractions, fun game stalls, a restaurant and a Nickelodeon store.
A recent construction ceremony saw UK TV personality Jennifer Ellison kick off procedures, posing for photographs with popular Nickelodeon charcaters SpongeBob SquarePants and Dora the Explorer. Also attending eth event were Gerald Raines, senior director of Nickelodeon Theme Parks and Recreation and John Collins, non-executive director of Pleasure Beach Blackpool and former chairman of IAAPA.
Amanda Thompson, managing director of Pleasure Beach, said: "Construction is well under way on what is such a fantastic project. There is so much work to do as we are not opening just one ride but an incredible 14 attractions which will offer family fun alongside the other 36 acres of the Pleasure Beach’s world famous rides and attractions."
Tina McCann, managing director of Nickelodeon UK, said the company was delighted to be bringing its much-loved characters to one of the UK’s favourite tourist attractions.
"Both Pleasure Beach and Nick have fantastic track records in delivering the very best entertainment experiences for all the family," she said. "Nickelodeon Land is an extremely exciting step for us."
The new area of the park is scheduled to open in April next year.
