VRstudios, a provider of virtual reality solutions based in the US, has released its Arena system, a VR platform that allows eight simultaneous users to interact with each other.

The VRcade Arena is built on VRstudios’ Attraction Management Platform. The company claims that this enables easy installation and efficient operations including support of day-to-day functions required by the facilities’ technicians, operators and managers.

The platform has been specifically designed for commercial entertainment destinations, such as theme and amusement parks, family entertainment centres, cinemas and casinos.

“We are excited to release the VRcade Arena, delivering on an original vision of the company conceptualised over five years ago,” said Dave Ruddell, VRstudios’ co-founder and chief architect.

“From our many VRcade systems installed around the world, we have learned what it takes to build and manage an arena-class product that can push the limits and best practices of the growing LBE industry.”

Ron Davis, the company’s chief marketing officer told InterGame: “We have sold the VRcade system to 50 locations in over 12 different countries. It’s free roaming and totally wireless, which has always been our 'claim to fame'. With the Arena we are introducing this to much larger spaces, the standard is 40ft-by-60ft, which is pretty big. Players are represented by full-sized robotic avatars in the virtual world so it looks great.”

The VRcade Arena will also be demonstrated at the 2017 IAAPA Expo in Orlando this November.
