Finnish manufacturer Valo Motion has launched a new game for its ValoArena product.

Astro Blade has been developed for the unattended mixed-reality playground market and joins the growing catalogue of physical games for the platform.
The game features realtime videos of each player on-screen using the arena’s built-in camera system and can accommodate six players without headsets, wires or controllers.
The game is a fighting game set in a space hanger and Valo Motion CEO and founder Raine Kajastila said: “Valo Motion sees Astro Blade as an opportunity to connect with new audiences. Fighting game aficionados, sci-fi fans and space enthusiasts will all find some fun in ValoArena. Astro Blade is the perfect expression of one of Valo Motion’s core goals: to use mixed-reality technology to get people on their feet, moving, and having fun.”
It is the company’s first player-versus-player game and players can create their own special moves in the game by acting them out and deploying weapons via hand gestures.
Lauri Lehtonen, lead designer of Astro Blade, said: “We worked hard to create an experience that is friendly and fun for younger players and showcases the interaction between them.
“There are no guns in Astro Blade, so parents should feel 100 per cent comfortable kicking their feet up while their children are in ValoArena playing Astro Blade.”
