A play and exercise centre designed specifically for disabled children and young people is set to be opened in Bristol, UK.

Gympanzees

The Bristol-based charity, Gympanzees, is set to open a site on the edge of the city, which will be transformed into a fully-inclusive play and exercise centre.

Gympanzees has run pop-up sessions in south Bristol during the summer and Easter school holidays for several years. The charity plans to open the new centre in 2026 but the CEO and founder, Stephanie Wheen, said that if they already had all the funds in place, the new centre would be open to the public by 2025.

The new site will cater for every kind of disability, with tailored rooms and equipment to suit different needs. Spanning 14 acres of land, including seven acres of green space and woodland, the new centre will be able to support over 300,000 children and young people up to the age of 25 each year. It will be fully equipped with a music room, gym, swing room, soft play, trampolines and a quiet sensory area.

There will also be several studio spaces and a physio and therapy room. The lending library, which is already on offer all year round, will have a designated pick-up and drop off point for families who wish to borrow accessible equipment.
