Word that the pool tables and sports bars chain of Rileys in the UK was in trouble has been confirmed as the company has now gone into administration and is seeking a buyer.

The pandemic has been blamed for the company’s financial difficulties. It has 21 venues with 208 staff. Fourty four redundancies have been made as the company closed locations in Grays, close to London, Sheffield, Wolverhampton and Worcester, leaving just 17 sites.
The locations are popular for playing pool, darts and table tennis, plus watching live sports. It has twice previously been in administration and bought out. It made a loss of £3.7m in the year ending December 2018, on turnover of £10.3m
