SPORTING tournaments are one of the most reliable ways to get a huge number of people in one place at one time. Some 3.5 billion people tuned in to watch the World Cup last summer throughout the tournament – that is not far off half the population of the planet.

In a modern, arguably more civilised, world, there is still that innate, residual instinct towards tribalism. This explains the massive crowds that turn up physically to watch matches on a consistent basis and leveraging this need is a clever way to get customers into a site.
