Well-known UK industry personality Stuart Keane has reported the sad loss of his son, Shaun, a victim of motor neurone disease for the past three years.
Shaun died on Saturday evening in hospital aged 31. His disease led to Stuart helping to pioneer a dedicated research institute, which will open at the end of this year. The Sheffield Institute of Transitional Neuroscience will research MND as well as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases. The campaign has so far raised £15m of the £20m needed.
Shaun was one of three sons of the Keane family, all of whom won the Coin Slot Golf Tournament in the 1980s. He had been helping to run the family arcades business in the Humberside area of northern England.
