Smiles Entertainment Centre, a 25-year-old FEC in Milford, Connecticut, US, closed its doors in mid-August.

Smiles, which was called Milford Amusement Centre until 2001, was operated by New Rochelle, NY-based Amusement Consultants. Amusement Consultants, owned by the Getlan family, operates FECs in 11 states and has created arcades for Las Vegas casinos, including the New York-New York Hotel and Casino, the Stratosphere and Caesars Palace.

Milford’s economic development director, Robert Gregory, told local US news media that Smiles was "a nice little entertainment place" and its closure is unfortunate. However, Gregory said he still thinks there’s a market for out-of-home entertainment in Milford and would not be surprised if a similar FEC business opens again.

Earlier this year, Krazy City, an arcade and restaurant in Milford’s Connecticut Post Mall, shut down after three years in business.
