The Hungarian market is one that is troubled by high tax issues and full to brimming point with video and reel gaming machines, leaving a limited amount of room for movement.

This year’s Gamexpo, held in Budapest, got off to a slow start and the first day left a lot to be desired. However, business did seem to pick up on the second day – leaving many wondering whether this event should be cut down to just two days.

All of the major players in the market exhibited, including Netherlands-based Errel, part of the JVH group, which has a massive 60 per cent share of the Category 2 (pub market) sector in Hungary.

Commenting on the Hungarian market, at the show, Eddy van der Steen told InterGame: “We are beginning to see a shift towards Category 1 (arcade market) machines in Hungary. Operators are beginning to change the arcades and are upgrading them to casino/arcades.”

Errel works with distribution company Spiller in Hungary and according to Van der Steen the good working relationship between the two companies is one of the reasons that there are now over 30,000 Errel machines currently in operation throughout the country, 12,000 of which are the company’s very successful Dice machine (Bonus Dice, Xtra Dice and Super Dice).
