Historically, the Forbes show held in Prague, Czech Republic, this week, has been favoured by visiting operators over the World of Entertainment show, held in the spring.
The market situation at the time, which sees AWPs approved on a quarterly basis and for varying lengths of time - with one year being the maximum - was one reason for this. It meant operators found it more beneficial to wait until the end of the year to buy new product - keeping it for the full year.
However, with the number of VLTs constantly on the rise, which are approved at any time and for five to 10 years at a time, it has opened up the purchase opportunities for the operators, meaning both shows now have some significance.
The opening day of this year’s show got off to a quiet start but for the major players in the market, including Synot, which had an impressive stand showcasing its new cabinet Max Power, it was worth the investment and the signs were looking good for a positive show.
