Indian debit card systems specialist Semnox is aiming to expand into the European amusement market.

The company, which has a strong presence in the Middle East, made its debut at last week’s European Attractions Expo in Paris, France. Kiran Karanki explained that the event had proved to be a “good platform.”

“It’s been very good for our first time here,” he said. “It has been better than I expected.

Semnox has a presence in the UK already but is seeking to expand into mainland Europe.

“Usually for us, the first year that we exhibit at a show doesn’t necessarily lead to sales. This is a close-knit industry and people need to feel comfortable with you before they do business.

“We’ve had a very good response here; people have been to our installations in the Middle East, for example, so we have been able to have good conversations with people and several deals are close to being signed.”

The company’s debit card system enables operators to move to a cashless environment and Karanki was anticipating strong interest in its solution for outdoor parks from European operators. The first area Semnox is likely to break into, he said, is Scandinavia where operators are “very hungry” for this particular solution.
