An Indian-based company has won the contract to build the giant Al Hamra entertainment complex in Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi Entertainment Ventures company, backed by government funding, has awarded the Al Hamra contract to Shapoorji Pallonji, a major construction group. It will build the new venue that will attract around six million visitors annually to its attractions.
The cost will be around $800m and will cover an area of 90,000sq.m on the outskirts of Riyadh, the Saudi capital.
Initial plans for the venue include indoor surfing, tenpin bowling, indoor skydiving, karting track, cinemas, restaurants, cafes, gymnasia and retail. Other elements include a Clip ‘n’ Climb, edutainment complexes and a Transformers licensed ride.
