The company opened four sites in the year, it reported, taking Red Engine up to 25 locations in the UK, US and Australia. The company has franchise partners in State of Play Hospitality in the US and NightOwl Entertainment in Australia.

Sales totalled £100m, up 28 per cent, while the 10 venues directly owned by Red Engine had sales of £67m.

CFO Ross Shepley-Smith reported that the company opened two new locations in Scotland, Glasgow and Edinburgh, last year and expansion plans this year will see the group holdings up to 33 venues.

The fresh openings will be in Oxford and Liverpool with Flight Clubs and there will be an Electric Shuffle in Manchester.

As its names imply, the company operates electronic darts in a modern, bar setting and similarly shuffleboard games-based bars.
