The rate at which pubs are closing down in Britain is slowing, according to a new report.

Pubs, a primary setting for Category C machines and other coin-operated products, have been shutting their doors in recent years in numbers which has been a cause for concern.
According to a new Hospitality Market Monitor from AlixPartners and CGA by Nielsen IQ, there has been a net decline of 4,593 licensed premises in the country in the past year.
The figures, up to the end of March, 2023, also show that in the first quarter of the year the rate at which pubs have been closing has slowed. In that period the rate of closure had fallen from 12.6 per day to 8.4.
Splitting the numbers down, the quarter shows that independent businesses contracted by 0.9 per cent, while managed houses actually increased to 0.3 per cent.
