News this week that the unemployment rate in Spain has officially hit 27 per cent of the working population is supported by the gaming salons (arcades) industry continuing to appeal for relief.
The latest is Asturias, which is on the verge of having a new set of gaming regulations. Operators in bingo, casinos and arcades this week came out with demands for the annual machine tax to be reduced by €500 from the current €3,700.
There is already a proposal to reduce the tax by €200 from next year. It is also proposed to reduce the gross sales tax on the province’s only casino from 20 per cent to 15 per cent.
