PokerTek, manufacturer of electronic poker tables, has announced it is exiting the amusement industry to focus on its casino products.
In 2007, the US-based company, presented Heads-Up Challenge, an amusement-only poker video game that enabled two players to compete against each other in a game of Texas Hold’em.
It was hoped Heads-Up would penetrate bars and restaurants worldwide but slow sales have prompted the manufacturer to move away from traditional distribution in favour of an "operator-direct business model."
