A young dad from Nottingham, UK, is celebrating after hitting a £1,000 jackpot on a pub lottery machine.

Christopher Wood scooped the top prize after purchasing a £1 lottery ticket from the TabBOXX machine at his local pub,  The Five Ways, part of the Punch Taverns Group. He is now planning to use the money to take his wife and little girl on holiday.

The interactive pull tab lottery machines are being rolled out in pubs across the UK to help raise money for The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation - the UK’s only charity dedicated to the defeat of lung cancer.

Twenty per cent of the £1 ticket price goes directly to the charity and it has so far raised more than £40,000 since the beginning of May. Stefan Poldolanski, of Gamestec, who presented Wood with his £1,000 cheque, said: "I’m really pleased for Christopher and glad he can now get away on a well deserved holiday. TabBOXX is a new product to the market but we have been really pleased by how well the product has been received. It is very simple to play and pub goers like having the opportunity to win £1,000 and at the same time help a good cause."
