Scarborough’s West Pier is one of the key cornerstones in the regeneration of the UK seaside resort, says Councillor Derek Bastiman in a press interview.

“It will respect Scarborough’s heritage as a working harbour while also breathing new life into that area of the seafront," he said.
A consultation has been launched to "ensure that as many voices as possible are heard,” he said.
It is part of an overall plan by the North Yorkshire Council to improve facilities for the shellfish trawler fleet in the region. The £11.4m project will see new kiosks, toilets and a new restaurant.
