Entertainment concept ParadropVR City Flyer has been shortlisted as a finalist for Best Leisure Concept in the 2019 MAPIC Awards, a standard of excellence that rewards the retail real estate industry’s brightest and best retailers and projects.

Developed by Frontgrid, the VR experience is an innovative immersive attraction, designed to help leading retail and leisure destinations increase revenue and footfall by offering a unique, fun and share-worthy experience to guests.
The world-first ParadropVR City Flyer attraction opened at King Power Mahanakhon in Bangkok, Thailand, in July where it has received positive feedback from visitors. The installation - branded Mahanakhon SkyRides - puts each guest at the heart of an immersive adventure, flying around one of the world’s most vibrant cities in a virtual reality game.
The MAPIC awards jury panel composed of top experts from the retail real estate industry met in Paris last week to review the entries and shortlist the finalists in each category, Frontgrid’s game being selected from a high number of projects to make the final shortlist for the Best Leisure Concept award.
“We’re delighted that ParadropVR City Flyer has been selected as a finalist for Leisure Concept of the Year in the 2019 MAPIC Awards,” said Matt Wells, CEO of Frontgrid. “Our first installation at King Power Mahanakhon has been a resounding success, both in terms of guest satisfaction and initial results.
“As a premium, interactive experience with great pulling power, ParadropVR City Flyer has huge potential to help leisure and retail destinations attract new visitors by offering a unique, innovative and highly shareable experience to guests. It’s great to see innovation in this sector being recognised.”
