Wanted: "leisure, culture and entertainment operators" for the UK's famous Wigan Pier.

WP

Wigan Council’s development partner for the pier complex, Step Places, is on the look-out for suitable F&B and amusement and entertainment outlets for the 55,000sq.ft of space at the famous venue.

George Orwell made Wigan Pier famous in his 1937 book The Road to Wigan Pier, of which one of the main structures is Gibson’s Warehouse, built in the 18th century and rebuilt in 1984.

Work has now restarted, following the pandemic, on refurbishing piers two and three of the venue as a multi-event space and piers four and five will be used for temporary events.

Said a representative of Step Places: “We are open to discussion with micro-brewers, F&B, hospitality and any end users who want to be located in these iconic buildings."
