An amusement and water park in New Zealand has upgraded its go kart offering.

The Splash Planet park in Hastings now boasts first of its kind electric go karts in the country, with both single and double-seaters available to race.
Benefits of the upgrade include no longer having to handle fuel, which is a safety risk, and a reduction in carbon emissions.
The karts are built by French manufacturer Sodi Kart and are lighter than the previous karts, improving handling.
Splash Planet manager Tom Page told the NZ Herald that the old karts were at the end of their life and it was difficult to keep enough karts on track to keep up with demand.
