A heritage-themed mini-golf course in the city of Christchurch has closed after five years.

The City Putt and Cruise mini-golf course by urban regeneration initiative Gap Filler is among a handful of projects to close on the land, reports Stuff.co.nz.
The former course was fitted with "heritage items" from Christchurch's history, such as artefacts to commemorating the Canterbury earthquakes in 2011. The items have now been returned to the care of the Christchurch City Council.
Developers Fletcher Living, who leased the space to Gap Filler in 2018, is planning 120 new homes to take the course's place. Other activity options such as a pump track and swings are also set to close in the near future.
A spokesperson from Fletcher Living said: “This has been a fantastic collaboration with Gap Filler to bring a heritage themed fun activity to people of all ages over the past few years.”
The new development has not yet been approved, though the company said earthworks is intended to begin in the coming months.
