A new adventure development is set to open in the city of Rotorua later this year as it moves into the final stage of securing funding.

The Waipa Mountain Biking Park is intended to be "affordable" and "family-friendly" according to the New Zealand Herald.
Adventure enthusiast Alex Schmid is the man behind the plan after his own mountain biking escapades in the area.
Schmid also founded the nearby Redwoods Treewalk, where visitors to the Redwood Forest are able to walk among the trees via suspended bridges and treetop towers.
The new park, which is estimated would cost a minimum of NZ$1.7m, is being targeted to open by Christmas of this year, should the final round of funding be cleared. Its range of attractions would include a high ropes course, accompanying children's course, and zipline.
