Canyon Ski Resort, located in the Canadian city of Red Deer, is installing new attractions to diversify and attract tourists.

Included in the recently installed array of active entertainment is the Canyon Coaster and a summer tubing park at the resort's ski hill, reports CBC News.
The Canyon Coaster sees riders travel 160m down the ski hill with a potential highest speed of 40kmh, though this can be controlled with a lever by the rider.
"We're projecting that the coaster is going to see around 40,000 people through the course of the summer," said resort owner, David Martel.
Executive director at Canyon Ski Resort, Rene Rondeau, said the new installations are part of a plan to "be louder and be present" in the industry and community, as well as to be "recognised as the top major event destination among mid-sized cities" by 2030.
The recent construction totalled C$1.3m dollars, contributed by a grant from Travel Alberta.
