A bill banning betting kiosks in bars, taverns and other establishments holding a restricted gaming licence has been passed to Nevada State Governor Brian Sandoval (pictured) to sign into law.

Having successfully passed through both the State Senate and Assembly, the bill could force companies such as William Hill and Cantor Gaming, which both offer such sports betting kiosks in bars in the state, to consider their options.

William Hill said it was “disappointed” that the Nevada legislature had passed the bill, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.

“As technology continues to move forward, Nevada is now taking a major step backward.”

Its kiosks complied with regulations and each installation had been approved by the Nevada Gaming Control Board, it said.

“We invested considerable amounts of money and resources in reliance upon these regulations, only to see the rules change after the fact.”
