The world’s tallest indoor climbing wall and the widest flight chamber are the accolades for Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island, which already has a huge indoor family entertainment centre operated by Landmark Leisure.

Yas Island’s owners, Miral Asset Management, this week announced plans for the new US$100m attractions, which will operate under the name Clymb and is set to open in 2018. The development will also include shops, F&B and party rooms, all with direct access into the present Yas Mall.

The flight chamber, in which guests can sky-dive, will be 9.75m wide, the widest in the world, while the indoor climbing wall will be 43m. Miral plans to attract 48 million visitors annually to Yas Island, some of them staying in a projected 4,000-room hotel. A $1bn Warner Brothers theme park is also coming to the site.
