Following its recent success in Canada and the US, Milliken SuperPro pool cloth has received official certification by the Asian Pocket Billiard Union (APBU) - the governing body of pool in Asia.

Recognition by the APBU will open new marketing opportunities for the company throughout Asia where both pool and snooker is producing talented amateur and professional players in growing numbers.

As a member of the World Confederation of Billiard Sports and the World Pool Billiards Association, the APBU is playing an influential role in the development of pool and the conditions under which the game is played. And as part of this, Milliken intends to become a stronger player, with SuperPro and Strachan 6811 tournament snooker cloth an essential element at many international events.

These have included the Singapore national snooker championships, which produced a home-grown winner in Lim Chun Kiat, and the inaugural SangSom six-red snooker international in Thailand. This attracted 18 professional snooker stars headed by world number four Mark Selby and leading amateurs from countries including India, Pakistan, Australia, New Zealand, Vietnam, China, Egypt and Laos.

EJ Go, Milliken’s marketing executive in Asia, said: "Most of the regulators in pool and snooker acknowledge that Milliken cue sport cloth is some of the finest available and this is driving up play quality across the board.

"It means that Asian players are catching up with their rivals in America and Europe at pool and snooker. Playing conditions play a big part in this process and we are pleased to be at the heart of it."
