The Indonesian family entertainment and amusement market has been developing strongly, thanks to the popularity of large retail malls.

Andy King, whose Pt Cipta Baru Nusantara company is based in Surabaya, Indonesia’s second largest city, said that the country’s amusement market has been performing “very well.”

King’s company both operates and supplies family entertainment centres.

“Due to the intense tropical heat, the air-conditioned malls seem to be the place where families escape or run to, which is excellent for the local amusement market,” he told InterGame. “The economy in the city of Surabaya is improving and malls are springing up like daisies, which therefore attract more children's entertainment and leisure facilities.”

The market continues to evolve, he said, stating that there are always new trends emerging within the local FEC markets.

“Leisure and amusement expos are appearing all over the globe and on every continent, so exposure to new games and new entertainment seems imminent, even in the smallest corners of the world.

“My job is to introduce new and exciting trends to all corners of Indonesia and, trust me, there are a lot of corners in this country!”

King’s company is set to introduce “something new and exciting” to Indonesia before the end of the year.

“I won’t say exactly what the project we are bringing to the archipelago is, but it is something new that the local market should definitely enjoy because it is different.”
