The Interazar-organised Andalucia trade show, traditionally held in April each year, is to be held in 2011 after all.

Following last year’s event, held at the Malaga convention centre, the downturn in the Spanish industry in face of the country’s economic depression caused the organisers to switch the premier Spanish show, FER, from September to March/April in its Madrid location.

The intention was to drop the Malaga event on the grounds that Spain could no longer support two major gaming shows.

Now, the organisers have re-thought their strategy in face of the growing liberalisation of Spain’s internet gambling laws. More of the 17 jurisdictions are now permitting online gambling and Interazar concluded that there would be a demand for a Malaga show to help foster that sector. It will be held in the usual location from September 14-16.

FER will continue in Madrid (March 28-30 in 2012), which means that effectively the Madrid and Malaga shows have exchanged dates.  Our understanding from the mainstream coin-op gaming companies is that some of them will join the online gambling industry in Malaga, but some of the bigger manufacturers and suppliers may concentrate on Madrid.
