Plans are being drawn up for a £200m retail and leisure development near the UK town of Oldbury that may feature location based VR.

Lion Farm Oldbury

Lion Farm Oldbury off the M5 motorway in the West Midlands has been proposed, on a 200,000sq.ft site that is currently playing fields.

The development proposes more than 90 shops, F&B outlets, cinema and a 100,000sq.ft entertainment complex operated by UK firm, Everyone Entertained offering Clip ’n Climb, a high ropes course, adventure golf, soft play, laser tag, escape rooms and a Sega “interactive zone”.  An installation of Frontgrid’s location-based virtual reality attraction, Paradrop VR, is also thought to be pencilled in.

“The proposed new multi-leisure facilities will be fully interactive and immersive, encouraging an active lifestyle at an affordable price for all the family and all age groups. The facilities will offer an amazing range of fun and exciting activities all under one roof,” reads the developer’s description of the entertainment offerings.

Up to 2,000 jobs could be created by the project and the developer has also earmarked space for a dedicated community hub, a Black Country tourist information centre and a training and skills hub, along with a crèche and exhibition venue.
