Despite a number of setbacks, including budget concerns and sponsors withdrawing the £5bn London Resort theme park has taken a step further towards reality with the opening of online public consultation.

The resort, to be located close to Gravesend overlooking the River Thames close to London, will have two parks, a 3,500-room hotel, shops and restaurants and ferry terminals to ship guests into the venue. The first park will open in 2024 and the second in 2029.
The London Resort will cover three times the space of any other UK park, taking up 535 acres. It was originally due to open its first phase last year, but its stop-start progress was constantly hampered. Now with public consultation open the plans are being given a critical once-over by all interested parties.
The intention is that it will create 9,000 jobs directly and 20,000 indirect jobs in the first year, doubling those numbers after 15 years. The current plans show a venue that is 70 percent under cover and will include considerable ‘green’ areas. It will include a water park and convention venue.
The public consultation period will stretch from July 27 to September 21.
