May 7 will see the debut of the new major ride at Blackpool Pleasure Beach in the UK when the Ice Blast is reimagined as the Launch Pad, rising to 210ft and falling at up to 80mph.

The venue said this week: “Guests will enjoy an epic moment of weightlessness, a thrusting G-force and a stomach-dropping descent.”
CEO Amanda Thompson said: “Our team has poured so much creativity, passion and expertise into this bold reimagining and I can’t wait for guests to experience it in two weeks’ time.”
The reimagining of the Ice Blast sees the new ride providing a space exploration theme, designed by the location’s own in-house team of engineers. The original ride was opened in 1997 as PlayStation, sponsored by Sony, and was changed to Ice Blast in 2000.
