The number of gaming machine seizures in London this year has now exceeded 150 following a series of recent operations supported by the UK Gambling Commission.

A further 45 illegally sited gaming machines have been seized as a result of recent activity under operations Condor and Elgar, across the London Boroughs of Brent, Haringey and Lewisham. The machines were found in 22 independent café-style premises and taxi offices spread across the three boroughs.
The action was co-ordinated by the Metropolitan Police and the respective licensing authorities and built on earlier visits to premises last year and a Gambling Commission briefing on tracking illegal machine supply in February.
“The Gambling Commission was pleased to lend support to this successful multi-agency operation in London and we are helping to spread this sort of good practice both among local authorities in London and across the country,” said senior compliance manager Clive Noblett. “Working in partnership with other law enforcement agencies is central to the Commission’s approach to keeping gambling fair and safe.”
