Counterfeit coins and bank notes continue to be an irritant to the UK industry.

The latest security alert from the National Crime Agency, circulated by Bacta, says that the use of £2 coin blanks in the south of England have been a problem but so have incidents of bank notes being accepted in machines in arcades.

An example is an RBS £20 polymer note, incidents of which were primarily in the north of England a year ago.

Operators are advised to be watchful and report any instances to the police and if CCTV is present then the film should be preserved as evidence.
