The Connaught Telegraph reported on the new development, which will be replacing Westport House's "famous" Pirate Adventure Park in the coming months.

Other than a sizeable net park, the new attraction will also offer 100m-long zip lines, a "multi-wall climbing zone," giant swings over the scenic quarry, a range of slides and more.

Additions to the 433-acre park form part of an effort by Westport House to confirm the property as a world class tourism destination and visitor attraction which will benefit the overall region.

The new adventure park comprises €20.2m of an overall €75m investment into the country house, afforded by Fáilte Ireland’s Platforms for Growth grant for heritage and cultural attractions.

“While we share our visitor’s sadness that the park will be closing, we are very excited about this new chapter," said company CEO, Barry O'Connor.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming our final Pirate Adventure Park visitors this year and hope they will continue to return and carry on creating those magical summer memories in our brand-new adventure park.”

Also coming to the country park this June is an innovative family attraction melding digital gaming, active play and sports.
