Major UAE-based operator Landmark Leisure, responsible for several FEC brands including Fun City and most recently, Jumble, across the GCC and India, had one of its best weeks of the year recently.

March saw the company not only claim the honours in four categories at the prestigious MENALAC Awards ceremony in Dubai, but its leader, Silvio Liedtke (pictured) switched into a new gear with his career and advanced to chief executive officer.

Liedtke has been with the Landmark Group for almost a decade now and has taken the business from strength to strength. Starting with a small number of Fun City stores in the UAE, Landmark Leisure under his leadership has grown into a multifaceted and highly respected leisure and entertainment business with six world-class indoor entertainment brands across almost 100 locations, which is no mean feat.

Landmark Leisure’s announcement comes at a time whilst they are making strong inroads on the other side of the Arabian Sea in India. The company is a market leader in India and has seen impressive growth in the last two years since the reins passed into Liedtke’s hands.

Indian business under his leadership grew over 50 per cent in the last year and Liedtke is in no mood to rest on his laurels. Tridom is the new kid on the block from the Landmark Leisure stable and is launching its second location (after Manar Mall, Ras-Al-Kaimah, UAE) this month in Hyderabad.

Liedtke said: “Landmark Leisure’s India story is just another piece of evidence that our business will impact the leisure and entertainment market in every country we operate in. We have tremendous plans and opportunities not just across the Middle East and India but all around the globe.

“We currently are developing two additional brands to stay connected with the ever-changing demands of our customers and we are actively engaged in franchising our brands beyond our own ambition of creating everlasting smiles.”
