The South African province of KwaZulu-Natal is planning to increase the number of its limited payout gaming machines located there.

Premier Zweli Mkhize

In his budget speech to the provincial legislature, Premier Zweli Mkhize said the province would seek to expand the gambling industry with bingo, the totalisator and LPM machines, The Times reported.

The province, which has five casinos, generated ZR404m in gambling tax revenue in the 2012-13 financial year.

“The gambling industry in KwaZulu-Natal is harnessed to bring employment, capital investment, corporate social investment projects and economic linkages to the wider economy, notably in tourism,” Mkhize said.
