The annual International Kite Festival rounded off the summer season for St Anne’s, near Blackpool, UK, last weekend.

Hundreds of kite owners from all over Europe took part in the award-winning festival, timed for the tide being out and given good weather, with the resort’s pier as the backdrop.
The event is a partnership between Fylde Council and SmileFactor10, the kite fliers' organisation.
There was even an illuminated kite flying evening last Friday, with a fairground on the beach and live entertainment. The weather was not totally compliant, but on the Saturday the town saw thousands of visitors to enjoy the colourful sight.
