The park reopened on Saturday, January 21, having closed its doors during the floods in late December 2022.

The announcement was made on the venue's website, where Greater Shepparton City Council acting community director David Booth stated: “We would like to thank the hard work provided by many council departments, as well as Kiwanis Shepparton Sunrisers, Corrections Victoria, Cleaves Earthmoving and Garden Supplies, Blow it Mulch and TakeOva Security.

“These groups have all helped get KidsTown ready to open its gates again and the council is very pleased to be reopening this much loved community asset."

Only the playground's Miniature Train Line will remain closed following the repair work, with attractions such as the Sprout Edible Garden, Disc Golf Course, and F&B offerings through the Dig In Cafe as well as the playground's other catering services all back up and running.
