The Garfield Township in Michigan is due to receive its first K1 Speed indoor go-karting facility.

Planning commissioners of the Garfield Township have approved the plans, reports The Ticker, with its owner, Dr Ulysses Walls targeting a summer 2023 opening date.

K1 Speed has over 60 locations worldwide to date, offering budding racing drivers 20-horsepower e-karts with speeds of up to 45mph for adults, and 20 for younger visitors.

The complex will provide other entertainment in the form of an arcade, restaurant and bar, laser-tag arena and putt-putt golf courses. A trampoline park is also on the card's for the venue's future.

The Garfield Township's new K1 Speed centre will be located at the former Sears department store within its Cherryland Centre shopping destination.
