The steep fall of a ride at the Kings Island amusement park in Cincinnati, Ohio, US, has mistakenly activated the crash detection system of multiple iPhones, reports the Wall Street Journal.

The new iPhone 14 and Apple Watch Series 8, Ultra and SE with the latest OS, have the crash detection feature. A total of six calls have been recorded to local emergency services from iPhones with the feature activated.

Another park, Dollywood, has warned riders of the risks of false alerts with signs posted at the entrance to its two most "intense" coasters.
