After initial threats of delays, Dubai’s IMG Worlds of Adventure had its grand opening on August 31.

The US$1bn resort is the first full-scale theme park to open in Dubai and covers 1.5 million square feet.
It contains famous brands Marvel and Cartoon Network, dozens of rides and attractions and 28 food and beverage outlets. In a joint statement, the owning partnership of Ilyas and Mustafa Galadari, co-chairmen and owners of a development company that shares their name, said that the opening was “the culmination of a childhood dream.”
They said: “This landmark launch has turned our aspirations of creating the world’s largest indoor theme park into a reality.”
The chief operating officer of IMG Worlds of Adventure, Lennard Otto, said that the park would be a major tourist attraction and would receive an estimated 4.5 million visitors in its first year.
