The German market in 2009 stood at 212,000 AWP machines, up by 12,000 on 2006 figures and by 2,000 on 2008.

The non-gaming machine market totalled 42,300, almost the same as 2006 but down slightly on 2008. The figures were released at a press conference on the eve of the IMA show in Dusseldorf, which opened to a quieter than normal turnout, according to many observers.

The feedback from exhibitors was that Germany in general had not suffered the recession and the games and gaming industry showed few ill effects, unlike the industry in some of the surrounding countries.

A full report from IMA will appear in the next edition of InterGame.
