The Illinois Gaming Board revealed that the state’s 714 video lottery terminals generated approximately $18m in the month of October.
The state launched its VLT system on October 9 with just 278 machines in 65 locations. This number has increased steadily, however, as more machines have come online.
When the Video Gaming Act was passed in 2009, some estimated that the state could support as many as 75,000 VLTs, with a maximum of five installed in each licensed premises. Now, it seems, this figure has been reduced to 40,000.
