Ahmed Zakaria has been appointed to the role and will lead the establishing of a local office in Dubai, UAE.

Zakaria has more than 20 years of experience in the exhibitions and event management industry across the MENA region. He was the general manager of MICE World, a Dubai-based exhibitions and conferences company.

IAAPA said that with his expertise, he will “play a key role in the EMEA team” and focus on “consolidating and developing our membership reach in the Middle East region.”

The company also said it will allow them to expand IAAPA trade events in the future, a rumour that InterGame reported on two months ago.

IAAPA EMEA executive director and vice president, Peter van der Schans, said: “I am excited to have Ahmed join the IAAPA team and look forward to exploring new opportunities in the Middle East by having a local office available to interact with members and industry partners.”
