Operators and manufacturers of AWP machines in Germany are understood to be locked in negotiations with representatives of the government's economics ministry over plans to 'tone down' the laws introduced in January last year.
The casino industry is bitterly blamed by the street market for ‘stirring up trouble’ for it with the authorities. Germany’s casinos are owned or part-owned by the various regional governments who rely on them for taxation income.
The street industry fears that the influence may cut back on its ability to offer a top prize of €500 for AWPs, which can be enhanced by special games to a maximum of €6,000.
The casinos, apparently, think that this is far too close to their offerings and are also critical of the close visual likeness of current AWP styling to that of casino slots.
