Some of Bryan’s Works mechanical arcade games are still in operation after 50 years or more. Now a last link with those games has departed with the death on September 20 of George Bryan, aged 92.

George was the son of William Bryan, who founded Bryan’s Works, a business that he took over.
He was also responsible for founding Drayton Manor theme park in Staffordshire, UK, in 1949, built on 80 acres of land near Tamworth, which he bought with his wife, Vera (pictured with George), for £12,000. Vera Bryan comes from a theme parks family herself.
George was born at Kegworth, Leicestershire, in 1921 where his father had his amusement machines factory. He is survived by his wife, one daughter and two sons.
