Genda GiGO Entertainment of Tokyo, Japan, has acquired the arcade chain, plus 63 mini-locations across the country from Halos Corporation.

The arcades chain operate under the Halos Garden brand and in a release, Genda said that the acquisition would provide ideal locations for its GiGO Prize range.
Halos was established by Fujio Imaizumi in 1996 and is also headquartered in Tokyo, while Genda has considerable interests in the entertainment industry, including amusement centres, karaoke, character merchandising, food and bevereage and contents and promotions, including in the movie industry.
Genda already has over 800 arcades under its GiGO brand and karaokes venues under the Karaoke BanBan name. Globally, Genda has 11,000 mini-locations that it describes as “non-staffed gaming corners” in the US, Japan, China, Taiwan, the UK, the Middle East, Vietnam and the Netherlands.
Three years ago Genda acquired the remaining shares of Sega of Japan that it did not already posess and rebranded all of the Sega venues as GiGO. The company’s flagship location is the giant GiGO Sohanten, covering four floors and over 3,000sq.m.
